Efficacious Mercy

Producing or capable of producing a desired result. That is the definition of efficacious. What does that have to do with mercy? The bible says, “…that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance” it is the goodnees, the kindness, the mercy of the Lord that leads men to repentance. In other word God’s mercy, kindness and goodness is meant to produce a desired result in us. His mercy is not just for forgiveness but His mercy is meant to produce a right spirit within us. If His mercy leads us to repentance than repentance is meant to lead us into a transformed heart of righteousness. So God’s purpose is efficacious, He is working in us to produce a desired result. What is His desired result? The Apostle Paul said, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature old things are passed away all things are becom new” all things are become new because my image has changed, my mind and my understanding have been transformed by the power of Christ. God’s desired result is a transformed life, “Be ye not conformed but rather be ye transformed” these are the Apostles word to the church in Rome. The transformed life is a life of victory and power and understanding this is the result that Christ is trying to produce in us. It is not always easy to live a life of victory and power but neither is it impossible. The bible teaches us that His mercies are new everyday that means when I fail or fall short of His intention for me in this life I can come to the fountain of His mercy. Not just for forgiveness but for life transforming power. That is efficacious mercy: mercy that produces life transforming power within us. Maybe you have been struggling in some areas of your spiritual walk with God, I encourage you to come to His mercy seat and ask Him for forgiveness and power to transform those areas of your life. God Bless.
