Introduction to the Bible

Their is nothing more important than learning and practicing God’s Word. Many people have different beliefs concerning God’s word because they do not have a clear, strong foundation when it comes to understanding the bible. If you want to grow and be founded on what you believe then the study of God’s Word should be a priority for you in your spiritual walk. You cannot overcome the philosophies, doctrines, heresies and lies that abound in the spirit of our humanistic society if you are not founded on the bible. If you are going to have a clear cut view of who you are and what you believe you must have a clear understanding of God’s Word and His purpose in your life. Probably the highest form of worship is to study because when you study you endeavor to know more about the object of your worship and the more deeply you understand the more intimate you become with the object of your love. The object of Christian Worship is Christ and their is no better way to know Him and His power then to study who He is. The Apostle Paul said, “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;”. That should be our desire to know Him and to know His power in our lives and the only way to really begin to know Him and that power is to study His Word. His Word gives us light, His Word gives us direction, His word has the power to deliver, the power to heal, the power to cleanse and the power to minister a doorway into heaven. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” That is who He is and that is what He does preach, heal, deliver, give sight and liberate. How does He do it through the power of His word Paul said, “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” What a wonderful and powerful gift we have been given by God the Holy Bible words from the mind and heart of our creator. “Study to show thyself approved” God Bless.

This is a introduction to the bible I use to teach people who want a good starting point. Much of the information in the study is universal please feel free to use it and may it be a blessing to whoever you may share it with. Click on the link below it is formatted in word.

Introduction to the Bible

He Has Already Been There!

Ephesians 4:9 and 10 says, “Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.” Basically what this means is that Jesus that came from heaven, descended first to earth, then to hell, then was resurrected and ascended into heaven (only God could do such a thing). Well what does that mean for us? It means that no matter how low we may have been, no matter how much we may have struggled, no matter how far away we may have felt from him. He has been to hell and back for us. What an awesome thing to think about. God in His perfect provision has already traveled the road before us and knows what we will encounter on this journey called the Christian life. He is not leading us anywhere he hasn’t already been. Yesterday I was at Starbucks fellowshipping with a brother and we began to talk about leadership. I commented to him that in order for someone to be a great leader they must first learn to lead themselves. It is difficult to lead someone to someplace you have never been. I gave him this analogy, I told him that if there were two groups of people that were going to climb Mt. Everest and you had never climbed Mt. Everest yourself and one leader of one group had already been up there multiple times and the other leader this would be his first time up. Who would you want to follow? The answer is obvious the leader that has proven he can make it up and back down again in one piece. He knows the terrain already, he knows where the toughest part of the climb will be, he knows when he will have to push his group and he knows his group will trust his decisions because he has already been there. Well we have a God that has been there, he knows the terrain and he knows when the path will be tough. I want you to understand that we chose the right leader. He is not taking us anywhere that he hasn’t already been himself. How awesome it is to know that I can trust God. Even when I cannot see the path clearly, even though the conditions may not be the best, even when I find myself on a ledge wondering how am I going to make it off, God will guide us through. The wise man in Proverbs said, “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” He literally orders my steps and ordains my path He is “…a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. I praise God today for His mercy and for His steady hand, I can truly say He has not let me fall, He has not let me slip He has been faithful. Their have been dark moments in my life and their been places in my path that I did not seem to sure of my step but He never stopped leading me. Think about this in your darkest times and in your moments of greatest failure He was always there. Your failure, your struggle did not scare Him or discourage Him from loving you. He has already been there so He knows how to see you through. I say “Rejoice not against me O mine enemy for when I fall I shall arise when I sit in darkness the Lord shall be a light unto me”. He has already been there means He knows how to deliver us from every temptation, every struggle and every set back. Be encouraged today because God is for you, He is not against you. God Bless.

Efficacious Mercy

Producing or capable of producing a desired result. That is the definition of efficacious. What does that have to do with mercy? The bible says, “…that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance” it is the goodnees, the kindness, the mercy of the Lord that leads men to repentance. In other word God’s mercy, kindness and goodness is meant to produce a desired result in us. His mercy is not just for forgiveness but His mercy is meant to produce a right spirit within us. If His mercy leads us to repentance than repentance is meant to lead us into a transformed heart of righteousness. So God’s purpose is efficacious, He is working in us to produce a desired result. What is His desired result? The Apostle Paul said, “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature old things are passed away all things are becom new” all things are become new because my image has changed, my mind and my understanding have been transformed by the power of Christ. God’s desired result is a transformed life, “Be ye not conformed but rather be ye transformed” these are the Apostles word to the church in Rome. The transformed life is a life of victory and power and understanding this is the result that Christ is trying to produce in us. It is not always easy to live a life of victory and power but neither is it impossible. The bible teaches us that His mercies are new everyday that means when I fail or fall short of His intention for me in this life I can come to the fountain of His mercy. Not just for forgiveness but for life transforming power. That is efficacious mercy: mercy that produces life transforming power within us. Maybe you have been struggling in some areas of your spiritual walk with God, I encourage you to come to His mercy seat and ask Him for forgiveness and power to transform those areas of your life. God Bless.
